What inspired you to teach yoga?
I was inspired to find a way to teach yoga because of the many positive benefits I have experienced because of my yoga practice. When I find something I love, and that transforms my life in a positive way, I want to share it with everyone! Yoga to me is so much more than a physical practice. It is a comprehensive (mind, body, spirit, and community) way to grow and change your life and I want everyone to have the opportunity to experience something so transformative. I most look forward to helping others connect, both with themselves and with others, via my teaching experience. What classes do you teach at Homegrown Yoga? Standup Paddleboard Yoga How would you describe your teaching style? Teaching SUP is all about embracing the experience! I instruct students to embrace all aspects of the SUP experience while guiding them through a gentle flow on their board. My classes encourage comfort while also encouraging you to embrace the challenges. What is a fun fact about you? I played saxophone in school and have started to learn the piano with my six year old daughter. What inspires you off the mat? Helping others has always inspired me and has been my motivation for being a mental health therapist and now moving into my journey as a SUP yoga instructor. Seeing the transformation that can occur when people are supported, empowered and believed in is my inspiration for continuing on my own path for growth. Where did you complete your training? Nashville SUP and Yoga in Nashville, TN What’s your favorite hot spot in Bellefontaine? There are so many great places to choose from! If I’m not at Homegrown Yoga, you’ll likely find me at Brewfontaine. Why do you feel at home on your mat? I feel at home on my mat because it is my space to let go of things that I cannot control and focus on myself—to be intentional in my breath, my movements and my thoughts which make me stronger both in my practice and in my day to day life. It’s a space to focus on me—a relief from the busyness of life and an opportunity to slow down and take a break from caring for others to care for myself. |
