What inspired you to teach yoga?
Trust the timing of your life! This is something that always interested me- since starting my practice in 2002. There was an unexpected opening in my YTT class, I knew I had the time to dedicate to this and went for it! My past teachers had a huge influence on me. I knew with the support of my family, my friends, and my yoga community, I would succeed.
What classes do you teach at Homegrown Yoga?
I currently teach Vinyasa on Monday’s at 4:30 pm. Join me for a great start to your evening! I also teach Restorative occasionally. I enjoy teaching slow flow, or a warm and lovely 90 minute Hatha.
How would you describe your teaching style?
I offer modifications and advanced poses throughout class. I truly feel that Yoga is for every person, every body- and that everyone can benefit by making it their practice. My classes will focus on the connection of breath, have great music, and end with a great, satisfying and restorative savasana. I hope you enjoy it :)
What is a fun fact about you?
I know all the moves to the Napoleon Dynamite dance and I never pass on an opportunity to watch it. I usually never pass up a chance to dance… Period.
What inspires you off the mat?
I am constantly looking to learn from and with others. This keeps me going. I believe that we manifest what we focus on, and I choose to focus on positive energy. It makes every day a great day!
Where did you complete your training?
I completed my 200 hours and 15 hour TSY (trauma sensitive) instructor training at Pulse Yoga and Fitness in Marysville.
What’s your favorite hot spot in Bellefontaine?
I love all the boutiques and shops located throughout downtown. The Olde Mint Antiques and a Don’s burger does me right!
Why do you feel at home on your mat?
As soon as I unroll my mat, I know that my practice that day will serve me well. From centering and bringing my focus inward, through my sequence- whatever that particular practice may look like, and then ending with my final resting pose - - I know I will feel good inside and out. This helps me to be my best self.
