Meditation has many benefits. These benefits have been documented through the centuries by yogis, monks, seekers, and more recently by scientists. Benefits of meditation can include reduced stress, better sleep, healthy changes in brain structure, inner peace, and spiritual awakening. Over this six-week course, we will explore some of the main tenets of mindfulness-based meditation. By experimenting with various meditation practices, this course will help you develop a home practice that suits your own style and schedule. This course can also provide a deeper exploration for experienced meditators.
During the 6 weeks we will cultivate a community of support for our practice and allow ample time and space for questions and feedback during each class as well as instructor support between classes. We will touch on meditation set-up and mindfulness-based techniques including Concentration, Heart-Centered, and Subtle Body practices. Requirements for this course include a commitment to sitting in meditation 10-15 minutes per day on your own between classes. There will be optional texts that accompany the class.
July 2nd- July 30th (Fridays)
Cost: $125 per child
Our Aerial Yoga Kids Flight Camp is an immersive experience that weaves together a fun and dynamic style of yoga with mindfulness practices that can help promote self-esteem, self-awareness and better interpersonal relationships.
Haley, one of Homegrown Yoga's Aerial Yoga Instructors, will begin Flight Camp with a 1-hour long aerial yoga class. We will then breakdown and tap into our creativity with an art + craft. In our last hour, we'll get back into our aerial hammocks for a more relaxing, restorative yoga experience and end class completing a journal entry.
Each camp day will have a different theme.
Day 1: All About Me
Students will get the hang of the basics of aerial yoga during class. They will also get to know each other on a deeper level and create a Summer Vision Board.
Day 2: Tie Dye Day
Students will review the basics of aerial yoga during class and will also create Tie Dye t-shirts!
Day 3: Nature
Students will learn how to pull themselves into frog pose during class! They will also complete a construction paper frog. This construction paper frog will ultimately encourage them to reflect on what they are grateful for in their lives.
Day 4: Under the Sea
Students will learn how to come into seahorse pose and mermaid pose during aerial yoga class. They will then create their own mermaid or a seahorse out of craft supplies.
Day 5: Space
During craft time, students will create kinetic moon sand and we will end aerial yoga camp with a black light aerial yoga class.
No previous aerial experience required! For students entering third grade through those entering sixth grade.
In order to provide the safest experience for our staff and guests, we ask you send your own snacks with your kids during each day. Kids will need to arrive without jewelry, and in pants that do not have zippers (think yoga leggings, shorts, cropped leggings, etc.).
