​Yoga for Back Pain Relief with Amy Fecher

A strong and healthy back is essential to our well-being and vitality!

Our sedentary lifestyle, such as sitting at the computer, driving to and from work, and relaxing on the couch can weaken our backs and contribute to poor posture. Ligaments and tendons shorten over time causing tension and compression in the spine which further contribute to a weak and painful back. This two hour workshop is designed to help you understand the causes of back pain and learn ways that you can prevent it. You will learn Yoga postures and therapeutic exercises which will benefit the whole body. You will take home with you a self-care plan devised to strengthen and lengthen your back that you can integrate into your daily routine at home. This workshop is for you if you are dealing with chronic back pain, struggling with scoliosis, sciatica, SI Joint instability, or nerve pain. This workshop is also ideal for those interested in preventing injury, runners, and those who have tight hips and hamstrings. If you are under the care of a physician, check to make sure this workshop is right for you. ​

​Start your yoga journey today! This series is perfect for those new to yoga or those with some experience who want to review the basics. You will learn the fundamentals of yoga in a fun and welcoming, small group environment. This series will cover the benefits of yoga, history and philosophy, breath work, and basic poses and alignment principles. Following the workshop, you will feel prepared to join a gentle studio class.

Join Addy and Heather for an evening of relaxation and rejuvenation. This class combines restorative yoga with reiki. Addy will guide you through your practice while Heather will offer reiki adjustments throughout the class.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for pain and stress relief that promotes healing, relaxation, feelings of peace, and a restful nights sleep. The word (Rei) means “Higher power/ Wisdom” and (Ki) means “life force energy”.
It is a safe and natural method use to create balance within. The Practitioner uses the gentle placement of hands (about the weight of a nickel) on various areas of the fully-clothed body, creating space for your inner healer to do it’s work.

Natal Nourishment- A Prenatal Yoga Series with Mac, CD (IDI)

Natal Nourishment, the first of the prenatal and postnatal/postpartum yoga series' to be offered by Certified Yoga Teacher and Certified Birth Doula, MacKenzie Myers Fitzpatrick in 2021.
This 5-week series offers pregnant individuals a journey of going inward for the purpose of observing the body, moving with intention, and gaining knowledge on the ways in which the body changes during pregnancy and birth. No yoga experience needed.
Over the course of the 5 weeks we will uncover topics such as:
-Expanding the Breath/Meditation practice
(deepening the breath, intention setting, tuning inward)
-Muscular Movement in Whole Body with Concentrations on the Pelvic Floor
(postures to promote contraction/relaxation, home practice resources)
-Comfort Measures Pregnancy/Labor
(massage, self, support of others, props, environment)
-Nourishment
(consumption, sleep, stimuli, growing baby)
-Anatomical & Physiological Understandings
(shifts in mobility & comfort, hormonal changes, safety in the body)
Within each intimate hour and a half class, students will develop a rhythm of integrating the practices of breath, movement, comfort, and discussion in a calming environment at Homegrown Yoga. Each week diving a bit deeper in the rhythms while we dedicate time to discussing a new highlighted topic.
Mac provides an environment in which discussion of any issues, discomforts, concerns are honored, respected, and valued. Prioritizing the value of the inner-wisdom that each participant brings to this collective experience surrounding pregnancy and birth.
At the end of this 5 week series you will leave with a tool kit of experiential and informational resources to support you in your journey through pregnancy and transitions into parenting.
Wherever you are at in your pregnancy, you are welcome to join. Variations will be made to postures depending on gestational age, yoga experience, and physical ability.
​This series will be offered in a sliding scale format, asking that you are mindful of your income, budget and the value of this experience in your journey.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are upholding our safety measures and limited the capacity of this class to 6 participants. Additionally, props at the studio are cleaned/laundered regularly. Homegrown Yoga also ensures air quality by running a HEPA filter during its hours of operation providing every participant with a healthy and safe experience.
Things to Bring/Wear:
-Mask (must be worn when up & moving)
-Yoga Mat
-Water Bottle
-Throw Blanket/Mexican Blanket from home (optional)
-Comfortable Clothes (that are easy to move in, comfortable for your body, & accommodating to any temperature changes your body may experience.)

Roll and Release: A Myofascial Workshop

Fascia is connective tissue that is intertwined throughout your entire body. It wraps around every muscle, tendon, ligament, bone and organ. When the fascia becomes tight, it inhibits movement and has the potential to cause tension and discomfort. This workshop will take a deep dive into the anatomy and physiology of fascia, helping you to understand the inner workings of your body a bit more. We will explore and discuss the importance that fascia plays in mobility, flexibility, and overall health.
Get ready to unwind and release the body from head to toe. Your body will greatly thank you. We will discuss the different types of RAD tools and usage, but will specifically be using the recovery rounds. You will leave with enough guidance and knowledge to use self-myofascial release (SMFR) at home and enhance your practice.
Cost is $40 - includes the 2 hour workshop and your own set of RAD recovery rounds (SRP $25)
